Today I am going to talk about a place in India which
is having breathtaking beaches, delicious food, vibrant nightlife, historic
monuments, and adventure activities. YES, Of course, it is GOA, considered as a
hot and happening place of India. I think most of the Indians would like to
visit Goa once in their life.
After 3 years of married life, we finally decided to
visit Goa. Goa is a state situated on the south-western coast of India. It has
a history of former Portuguese territory. You will find a huge list of tour and
travel company’s websites where you can find many Goa tour packages. After
doing so much research on Google we decided to plan it according to our
convenience and not to go for any package. We both are simple and not so party
people and we wanted this trip simple and easy going. Therefore we chose only
selected places to visit. Of course, Goa is a place for everyone and one can
make it budget-friendly as well as luxurious trips as per their choice. We chose in between budget trips, not so low
not so high.
We planned the trip in February 2019 and booked the
hotel for 5 nights and 6 days from 17th Feb to 22nd Feb. I will share my hotel
experience later. We booked the tickets from Delhi to Goa, from IGI airport to
Dabolim Airport. It took two and a half hours to reach our destination airport.
The air tickets for up and down cost us between Rs.16000 to Rs.17000 for 2.
From Dabolim airport, we hired an airport taxi cab service for our destination
hotel ‘IBIS Style Goa’ situated in Calangute. The taxi cost us around Rs.1100
and it took 1 hour to reach the hotel.
You can easily reach Goa by Air, Rail or by Road. According to my research, there are two
railway stations known as Madgaon and Vasco-da-gama. If you are thinking to
travel by road you can hire a cab or bus from nearby cities and towns. To explore Goa renting a bike or scooter is
the most exciting and budget-friendly way. We took the scooter on rent from the
hotel itself and the cost of the scooter was Rs. 350 per day and we hired it
for 3 days. You need to submit your id proof as security to the scooter owner.
We handed over our PAN Card. Keep in mind, always check the condition of the
scooter before taking it, you should click some pictures or a short video of
the scooter before finalizing the deal. Also, you will have to fill the oil
tank as per your requirement.
Our hotel was near to the main beaches like Baga, Calangute, Candolim and Anjuna Beach.
Everything was near to us. In Goa where you can book a Resort and
hotel's high-end beachside, on the other hand, you can also find
budget-friendly hostels, homestays, and shacks easily. We went to the Calangute
beach first and then Baga and Anjuna beach. I like Calangute beach the most
because of its location and the crowd. We also explored its nearby markets. I
am not sure it is the month we choose or the time we went to the beaches, the
crowd at the beaches was bearable. In the day time between 11 am to 12 pm the
beaches were less crowded but after 4 pm you can find a good mob.

To create a memorable beach holiday experience, there
are many things to do at the beach. You can do lots of interesting water
activities in the day time like water skiing, boat rides, scuba diving, kite
surfing, etc. If you are a party animal you can enjoy the beach parties at
night or you can visit famous nightclubs and resto-bars. Or if you are like us
the peaceful and nature-loving human you can simply enjoy the sunset at the
beach. There are so many historic places and forts to visit and shopaholic people
can do shopping at nearby flea markets. Foodies can enjoy the Goan food and yes,
vegetarians like me can easily find delicious food for themselves. We did some
purchasing too.
We did nothing too much there but still for me it was
a pleasant and memorable experience. I loved the environment and the weather.
It’s a beautiful and peaceful place if you just drive to explore its inner
places. You will feel near to nature.
What I realized; it’s a myth that Goa is only for party-loving people,
but it is for peace-loving people too.
