Hariyali Teej 2021: Try Delicious Sweet Corn (Maize) Cheela

Today is 11th August 2021 and our whole country is celebrating “Hariyali Teej”. Especially the northern part of India celebrates it the most.  So, on this auspicious occasion, I am going to share a simple, healthy, quick, and delicious recipe called "Sweet Corn (Maize) Cheela" .


Here enjoy the Sweet Corn Cheela Recipe:

Prep Time: 15 minutes   
Cooking Time: 15 minutes   
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
  1. 1 cup of boiled sweet corn
  2. 3-4 tablespoon Besan
  3. 2 green chillies finely chopped or as per your taste.
  4. 1 finely chopped Onion
  5. 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste.
  6. 1 tablespoon Kasuri methi.
  7. Half tablespoon carom seeds
  8. Half teaspoon of asafoetida (hing)
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Water as required
  11. Oil for frying 

Instructions: 

  1. Boil the corn.
  2. Drain the water completely and grind it into the smooth batter. Use a little water to adjust the consistency.
  3. Pour the batter into a bowl and beat it until it becomes fluffy and light. 
  4. Now add all the above ingredients into the batter and mix it properly.

Cooking Process:
  1. Put tablespoon oil on Tawa and spread it.
  2. Now take 2-3 tablespoons of batter and spread it tawa in circular motion.
  3. Make a chapatti size corn cheela or as per your choice size and cook it in medium flame. 
  4. Now flip it and cook it till it turns out golden brown.
  5. After cooking it from both sides take it out and serve hot with some chutney or sauce. 

Some points to be noted:
  1. The batter should not be very thick or thin. The consistency of the batter should be like Pakoda batter, easily spreadable but not flowy.
  2. You can make the size of chilla as per your choice.
  3. Use the oil around the cheela if needed while you are flipping it.

How To Make Moong Dal Pakoda / Vada Recipe

What is Moong Dal Pakoda?

Moong Dal Pakoda is a popular Indian snack, mostly enjoyed with evening Tea therefore also called Tea time snack. Moong Dal is also called Split skinned green gram. Moong Dal Pakoda is also known as Moong dal Vada or bhajiya. It is a deep-fried snack that is crispy from the outside and spongy and soft from the inside.

What to do with leftover batter?

I would recommend using the batter on the same day but in case you need to keep it, It should be kept in an airtight container in the fridge. Always better to use a small amount of batter for Pakodas at a time and keep the remaining batter aside without any spices in it. 


Is Moong dal pakodas healthy?

Moong dal doesn’t have a strong flavor. It is light and easy to digest. Doctors usually recommend having it when you feel sick. Therefore at my home, we also call it Dal for sick people. It has many health benefits if taken as it is but in reality anything which is deep-fried is not healthy. Still, after deep frying, it's better than other deep-fried snacks.

Without wasting time let's jump into the cooking process.

Prep Time: 4 hours   
Cooking Time: 30 minutes   
Total Time: 4 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Moong dal
  • 2 green chilies finely chopped Or as per your taste.
  • 1 finely chopped Onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • A small amount of finely chopped coriander leaves or 1 tablespoon Kasuri methi.
  • Half tablespoon carom seeds
  • Half teaspoon of asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

  • Wash the Moong dal and soak it in enough water for overnight Or 3-4 hours at least.
  • Drain the water completely and grind it into the smooth batter. Use a little water only if required.
  • Pour the batter into a bowl and beat it until it becomes fluffy and light. You can test it by dropping a small amount of batter into the water. It should float. Beating helps the batter to become lighter by adding air into it. I prefer hands to beat, a traditional method. You can use other instruments.
  • Now add all the above ingredients into the batter and mix it properly.

Frying process:

  • Heat the oil in a Pan. The oil should be heated on medium flame.
  • Check if the oil is hot enough by dropping a small amount of batter in it. If the batter comes up and floats then it is the right time for frying.
  • Use your hand or spoon to drop the batter. Make the size as per your need.
  • Let the balls turn into crisp and golden Pakodas.
  • Drain the Pakodas into Paper napkins or Kitchen tissues. You can also use aluminum foil to put your pokdas on the plate.
  • Serve it hot with your favorite dip Or green red chutney. Usually, people accompany these with their even Tea.

Some of the points keep in mind:

  • Always fry Moong dal pakoras in medium flame or else they will soak more oil if the oil is not hot enough or will remain uncooked from inside if the oil is too hot.
  • You should blend the batter properly. The well-beaten batter will help the batter become lighter and this will make the pakoda fluffy and spongy.
  • The batter should be neither too thick nor too liquidy. A liquidy batter will splutter the oil and a thick batter will remain uncooked from inside.
  • Leftover Pakodas can be used in Besan curry/kadhi or you can make Sabzi with it.

Quick and Easy VEG Mayonnaise Sandwich Recipe

Veg Mayonnaise Sandwich is an easy and healthy breakfast recipe that is best on a busy day. Not only for breakfast, but you can also eat it as a snack. Yes, if considered sandwiches are categorized under fast food but we are going to make a sandwich which is super-fast to prepare as well as loaded with super healthy vegetables. These sandwiches can be eaten as it is or you can also grill them. As we are going to use uncooked vegetables, these sandwiches are going to be crunchy and Mayonnaise will make them super creamy. You can also use herbs as per your taste.

Ingredients:

  • Take 4 bread slices
  • 4-5 spoon of Sandwich Mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup of grated carrot
  • ¼ cup of finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
  • ½ tablespoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  • Take a bowl and add all the above ingredients and mix them well.
  • Take two bread slices and spread butter or flavoured mayo on both of the slices. 
  • Spread the mixture on a slice and put another slice on top of it.
  • Press the bread a little and slice it into 2 pieces.

  • YUMMY!! Your sandwich is ready to serve. Serve it with your favourite tea or coffee.

Note:

  • You can use whichever veggies you want. I have used here what was available to me at that time.
  • You can use flavored mayo to make the spread but it’s better to use plain one as it perfectly paired with the herbs and spices you want in it.
  • You can use whichever bread you like. It can be sandwich bread, white bread, or brown bread.
  • Here I have used 2 Mayo, Plain and flavored. I use plain to make the spread and I floured one to cover the bread slices before putting the mixture on it.
  • It’s up to you whether you want to cut off the bread sides or not.
  • You can grill or toast the sandwich before serving or you can serve it as it is.

Try it once; its creaminess and crunchiness make this recipe delicious.

Besan Cheela - Quick, Easy and Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is an everyday morning challenge for everyone. The challenge starts by asking everyone in the family ‘What they would like to have in breakfast’ and the family passes the challenge back to you by saying ‘Whatever you like OR anything will work’. Now it's time to find out a healthy, easy and quick option, and whenever I face this situation I decide to make Besan cheela. Today, I am going to share the recipe of a simple Besan cheela with fewer ingredients.

Besan cheela is famous all over India. Some of the states call it Chilla and some of them call it Pudla. Basically, Besan is called Gram flour/ Chickpeas flour in English. Chickpeas are a good source of sodium, potassium, carbohydrate, protein, vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Iron, and Magnesium. Gram flour is good in fiber also. Because of these nutrition values, Besan is a healthy option in breakfast or one can also have it as an evening snack. Besan chilla is Vegan as well as gluten-free. You can make it healthier by adding some grated vegetables.

Though the besan is healthy people should avoid it when they have an upset stomach. Because gram flour is heavy to digest, therefore whenever you make a besan recipe always prefer to add Ajwain (Carom seeds), Ginger, and Hing (asafoetida) which will help to digest it.

Diabetic people are restricted to many foods, but they can easily enjoy this chilla. You can have besan cheela in any season. Gram flour keeps you full for a long time therefore one can add this recipe to their weight loss diet also.

Well, after all the above information, let's start to prepare our Besan cheela recipe.

Ingredients :

  • 1 Cup Chickpea flour/Besan
  • 1 Small finely chopped onion
  • 1 Small finely tomato chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon dry fenugreek leaves (Kasuri Methi)
  • 1 finely chopped green chilli (optional)
  • ¼ tablespoon Ajwain (Carom seeds)
  • ¼ tablespoon Ginger paste
  • ¼ tablespoon asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Water as per the requirement
  • Oil or Ghee as per the requirement

Instructions :

  • Take a bowl, add Besan, chopped onion, chopped tomato, green chilli, ajwain, ginger paste, hing, and salt.
  • Mix all and gradually add water to make the batter. While making batter keep mixing slowly to avoid the lumps.
  • Keep the batter aside for 10 minutes.
  • You can make the Cheela in a Pan or in Non-stick Tawa. Heat the Tawa and add tablespoon oil and spread the batter gradually.
  • Make the Chilla size as per your choice.
  • Cook both the side till it becomes golden brown.
  • Serve it hot with your favorite dip or sauce or chutney. You can also enjoy it with your Tea or Coffee.
  • Note: Make the consistency of the batter thick or thin as per your choice. Just keep in mind that it should be smooth and lump-free.

How I Made Whole Wheat Flour Ladoo (atta ladoo recipe)

October and November are the months of festivals and we Indians celebrate all of them. Actually, we Indians do not miss any opportunities to celebrate. And of course, any celebration is incomplete without sweets.  We are fond of food and therefore one will find countless recipes of amazing tasty dishes here. Indian recipes vary across the region and states. 

Now the point is that I also have tried a sweet dish with the reference of Youtube videos. I was looking for something which is healthy as well as easy to prepare. And finally, I decide to make Whole wheat flour ladoo Or Atta ladoo with lots of healthy nuts. 

Following are the ingredients needed:
  1. 2 Cup of Whole-wheat flour 
  2. 1 Cup of Ghee
  3. 1 Cup of Powdered sugar (Or jaggery) 
  4. A handful of dry fruits as per your liking (roasted)
Now let's get started 👧 :
  1. Dry roast your dry fruits and coarse grind them.
  2. Now dry roast Whole wheat flour until it turns golden and aromatic.
  3. Add Ghee into it and roast for 2-3 minutes, till it gets absorbed by the flour.
  4. Now add dry fruits 
  5. Turn off the Gas stove and allow the mixture to cool down a little. 
  6. Add the sugar and start making ladoos. Mind that the mixture should be warm.
Let your ladoos cool down for a better taste. Enjoy your ladoos whenever feel low. These ladoos are full of energy and lots of good health. But eat only 1 or 2 in a day depends on the size of ladoos because I bet you can't resist eating more. 😁

Mango Ice-Cream With 3 Ingredients

It looks tempting and tastes delicious; it is the most loving and favourite fruit of many, the king of summer and India’s national fruit, yes, it is “Mango”.  It is really difficult not to get fascinated by its sweet and sourly smell and beautiful shinny bright colour.

In India we love to have Mangoes in Pickles, shakes, chutney, cooling drinks etc. We use it in ripe as well as in raw form. This is the season of mangoes and I decided to make something with it before the season ends.  So I found an easy Mango Ice-cream recipe on YouTube with only 3 ingredients. I tried and it came out delicious. So this time I am sharing Mango ice-cream recipe with you all.

Ingredients:
  1. Mango pulp: 500 gm
  2. Fresh Cream: 250 ml
  3. Condense Milk: 50 ml 

Method:
  1. Make the paste of mango pulp in mixer and then add fresh cream with condense milk in it. Just give it a blend for 2 minutes and you will get a creamy and nice textured paste.
  2. Put this paste in an air tight container or whatever container you have just cover the paste with aluminium foil before putting the lid.
  3. Keep it in freezer for at least 8 hours. 

Your Mango ice-cream is ready to eat.                                                     

Note: As this was my first time, I felt that it would taste more delicious if your pulp would be little sour. Also you can add some dry fruits or Tutti frutti (candid fruits) in it. You can add more condense milk or sugar as per your taste. You can also adjust the quantity of ingredients according to your requirement. The above ingredients quantity will give you a good half kg ice-cream brick.

How To Make Tea In Microwave


I have a microwave and I rarely use it or I can say I only use it to warm food or sometime to make Dhokla and Idlies (Indian recipes).  I never tried to make anything else except these, as I use LPG for cooking on daily basis. I also have heard and read on internet, that food cooked in microwave is not good for our health; I don’t know how much it is true.  

Well, few days back our LPG cylinder got empty and it was going to take few days to get a filled one, as we forgot to book it before.  We are evening Tea lovers and I know we were not going to enjoy it more, until we get our new cylinder delivered. We were craving for our evening tea. And there is a proverb i.e., “Where there is a will, there is a way”😁. I decided to find a method to prepare tea in microwave. I started searching on YouTube and finally found a simple and easy method. Today I am going to share it with you all. So let’s get started.

Ingredients (for 2 people):
  1. 1 cup milk
  2. 1 cup water
  3. Sugar to your taste
  4. 2 tablespoons Tea leaves
  5. Use cardamom, cinnamon or ginger whatever you like for flavor. 

Method and timings:                                                                                   

Use microwave friendly Bowl, put all the above ingredients and cook it for 4 and half minutes on high watt (mine is 900 watt). That’s it your tea is ready to enjoy.

Note: Use a deep and wide bowl, so that the boiling tea would not come out of it. The quantity of water and milk depends on your choice. Some people like less milk and more water and some vice versa.

My first time with Onion Posto Recipe


Hello everyone, I am back with my new blog and this time I am going to share my experience with a Bangla dish called Onion Posto or Pyaaz Posto. This dish was totally new to me as I never tasted or even heard about this. I would like to share a short story behind this dish before sharing the recipe.

One weekend I and my husband went to my sister’s place to see her sister-in-law’s new born baby. There we meet her mother in law too. It was a normal get-together.  They made lunch for us and there I found a new dish, yes, it was Onion Posto. I asked to my sister about it and she told me that it was made by her mother in law. It was one of the favourite dishes of my sister’s husband. The dish was so simple but good in taste. After lunch I asked her the recipe. She told me it was made by onion and posto which is called poppy seeds in English. I was aware about the poppy seeds but it was first time when I saw it at her place.  I asked about the recipe and decided to make it, as, it was easy to cook with simple ingredients.

Next time, when I went to the market I picked up poppy seeds, as it was the main ingredient of this recipe. And this was the first time I am using it in my life, as I never had poppy seeds at my home before and my mother also never used it. So, all the ingredients were with me and it was the time to cook. And the dish came out so good.  I and my husband enjoyed it. 

This recipe is so simple and quick that anyone can try it. So, here I am sharing this with you all. Try it once and do let me know.

Ingredients for Onion Posto Recipe:
  1. 3-4 medium size Onions
  2. 3-4 green chillies (as I do not use red chilli powder much, but if do, u can use it too as per your taste)
  3. 3 tablespoons of Poppy seeds (grind it and make a smooth batter)
  4. 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
  5. 3-4 tablespoons oil
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Half tablespoon of turmeric powder 

Steps:
  1. Heat the oil and put mustard seeds.
  2. Once the mustard seeds started popping out put green chillies in it.
  3. Fry it for a while and now add Onions.
  4. Fry it again and now add turmeric powder and salt.
  5. Once the onions are soft and translucent, pour the poppy seeds paste in it.
  6. Cook for another 5 minutes


And your Onion posto is ready to serve 😃
